About the Department

The Department of Business Administration is the oldest department in the Copperbelt University Business School with longstanding reputation for its quality in training and research since 1978. Over time the department has recorded growth in the number of programmes and student enrolments, both local and international.

The department has been a key contributor to industries, and the economy at large, by producing highly qualified graduates who successfully manage organisations in both the public and private sectors. Based on its rich history and size, the department is well renowned for providing skills, knowledge and a unique experience that sets students up for the future.

In 2016, the department expanded with the successful launch of the Bachelor of Human Resource Management on fulltime and part-time study modes. There are more exciting opportunities for more programme launches as the department strives to continuously innovate and become a centre of excellence.

Programmes Offered

Our department offers innovative and exciting programmes aimed at addressing the needs of various industries. The 4-year degree programmes currently on offer are as follows:

Bachelor of Business Administration – Full-Time Regular and Evening Modes
Bachelor of Science in Marketing – Full-Time Regular and Evening Modes
Bachelor of Human Resources Management – Full-Time Regular and Evening Modes

Besides the Full-Time Regular and Evening Modes, the above programmes are also on offer under the university’s Directorate of Distance Education and Open Learning (DDEOL)

The department has a dedicated and committed team of Academic Staff that is passionate about their areas of expertise. The Academic Staff create and deliver on all the programmes. In addition, we have working relationships with other departments and Schools for teaching and research as well as various industries. For professional qualifications for our graduates as well as continuous professional development, we also have formal collaborative relationships with professional bodies such as the Zambia Institute of Marketing (ZIM),the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM), the Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA). Delivering high quality research and consultancy services lies at the heart of our activities.
