INTRODUCTION

The school of Natural Sciences has a mission of research, teaching and offer public service. Research excellence forms the foundation upon which academic programs flourish and translates to excellence in undergraduate experiences later shall be graduate excellence. The School of Natural Sciences is developing academic programs for discoveries and applications in science and technology, and for graduate and undergraduate education. Our research and teaching programs serve as an economic engine for the region and state. We contribute to developing a college-society culture in the nation.

VISION

The school of Natural Sciences is a bearer of university education in the fields of natural sciences, geography and agriculture sciences. The school of Natural Sciences is the sole provider of core physical science courses and the main provider of core life sciences courses that serve all other schools. The school creates conditions favouring the increase in the level of education and knowledge via top-class and quality science teaching background that provide the possibilities for both professional and personal development of all students. Offering quality conditions for various activities related to education, science and research. The discovery of Wisdom and the transmission of Learning” through research and “undergraduate education of the highest quality, the school is comparable with the national university environment. Also, the school cooperates with its surroundings, supporting open scientific and social discussion, independence in research activities, and the education-science-society interaction. The school upon completion of infrastructure shall offer MSc and PhD in science and science education in the near future.

The Department of Physics in the School of Natural Sciences is one of the leading centres for scientific research and university-level educational program in the field of physics. The Department of Physics is conducting internationally relevant and competitive research; they participate as project leaders or researchers on the competitive national and international research projects, thus contributing to the higher education in the field of physics at Mukuba. Employees of the Department of Physics collaborate on joint projects with the industry to contribute to the development of knowledge and innovation-based economy to strengthen multidisciplinary and inter-disciplinary research and the potential to integrate into the national research forum. Their scientific work is connected with innovative teaching techniques, thus providing a creative and stimulating environment for the education of future generations of Physicists and Engineering.
