About Rift Valley Technical Training Institute Library

The library started in the year 1962 when the institution was a trade school by then, later it was elevated to technical school and later to the technical training institute. As it kept on to be upgraded, procurement of new library materials was added to carter for new courses which were introduced. in 2022, the library was placed under the directorate of library services that are managed by a director who also serves as the institutes Chief Librarian

Monday – Friday 8.00 am – 9.00 pm

Saturday 9.00 am – 1.00 pm

Public Holidays Closed

LIBRARY LOCATION

The location of the library building is in a central place of the institution easily accessible to all users.

BOOKS

There are three categories of books i.e

Reference Books

Short Loan Books

Normal Loan Books

REFERENCE BOOKS

These are books which are only used in the library

SHORT LOAN BOOKS

These are books which are loaned for a period of three days

NORMAL LOAN BOOKS

These are books that are loaned for a period of two weeks.

ARRANGEMENT OF BOOKS IN THE LIBRARY

Books are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme with the Call Numbers marked on the spine of each and every book.

MEMBERSHIP

For one to be a member she/he must be a bonafide student/staff of RVTTI and must have a barcoded college ID Card.

RUNNING OF THE LIBRARY

Currently, the library is fully automated whereby a computerized library system is used. Each and every book in the library has an individual barcode that has been generated by the library staff. We have a total of over six thousand volumes of books which comprises Engineering books, i.e Mechanical (Automotive, Building and Welding), Business books, Computer books, Medical Laboratory books, Pharmacy, Institutional Management books among others.
