A Scholarship is a grant or payment made to support a student’s education, awarded on the basis of academic or another achievement.

New applicants are invited to apply for Busitema University Admission.

In an effort to provide every student with an opportunity to get a quality higher education, the Busitema University Zambia provides the following financial assistance to intelligent but poor students.

MPH Scholarship Applications 2024

Busitema University invites prospective students to apply for admission to the DAAD funded Master of Public Health (MPH) scholarship programme at the Faculty of Health Sciences based at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital. The programme aims at fostering strong, internationally oriented higher education systems in SubSaharan Africa with the capacity to contribute to sustainable development. For this purpose, scholarships for developmentrelated Master or doctoral studies are awarded to individuals who plan to pursue a career in teaching and/or research at a higher education institution in SubSaharan Africa.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants

  • have successfully completed generally a threeyear university degree with above average results (at least: Second Class/Upper Division or equivalent, if applicable);
  • clearly show motivation and strong commitment;
  • have a thorough knowledge of the language of instruction;
  • have generally completed their last university degree not more than 6 years ago at the time of application;
  • must be nationals or permanent residents of a SubSaharan African country;
  • Should generally be a) a staff member of a public university, b) or a candidate considered for teaching or research staff recruitment, c) or from the public sector and/or d) Alumni of the DAFIprogramme.

Female applicants, refugees with recognized refugee statusand candidates from other less privileged regions or groups are especially encouraged to participate

in the programme.
Scholarships are generally initially granted for one year and can be extended to a maximum of the regular period of study upon receipt of an application for extension. Scholars must demonstrate satisfactory progress before an extension is granted.

MPH degree requirements
  • A degree in health sciences e.g MBChB, BSc Nursing, B. Pharmacy, BDS, BSc Physiotherapy and BVM
  • A degree in biological sciences e.g Biology, Laboratory sciences, Nutrition
  • A degree in social science e.g Social work, Sociology, Economics, Demography and Statistics

Apply for the MPH programme at https://admissions.busitema.ac.ug/ and pay the application fee

STEP 2

Applications for the DAAD scholarship must be submitted via the DAAD portal:

Applicants must apply for the scholarship via the DAAD portal. Applicants are asked to log into the DAAD portal, register themselves and submit a DAAD
application. 

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINEDecember 9, 2023.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

International students are required to equate their academic degrees with The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) https://unche.or.ug/). Please note that the application for equating of qualifications may take long and that it is the applicant’s responsibility to get informed at an early stage to receive the documents from the respective authorities in time before registration into the MPH programme.

Busitema University will screen, preselect and shortlist the applicants that have met both their own admission requirements and the formal criteria by DAAD. A detailed report consisting of the shortlisting procedure, the entire list of applicants, the ranked shortlist and the shortlisting panel members will also be availed to DAAD. The ranked shortlist will contain preferably triple (at least double) the number of scholarships that have been attributed to the institution.

In a final selection, the applications ranked by the institution in a preselection will be assessed by an independent selection committee (international university professors and experts from German and foreign universities and alumni). The independent selection committee evaluates the applications on the basis of the submitted documents and in consideration of the preselection ranking of the institution.
Areas evaluated include academic performance and quality, extracurricular activities, motivation, and relevance of the research topic (if applicable). DAAD reserves the right of final selection.
