Busitema University Engineering Faculty

Busitema University is a multi campus model public University located in the eastern region of Uganda. The main campus is at Busitema and other campuses at Nagongera, Namasagali, Arapai, Mbale, Pallisa and Kaliro. Established by Statutory Instrument in 2007, the University focuses on relevant and critical study programs in Engineering, Science Education, Health Sciences, Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, Agriculture and Animal Sciences, Management Sciences and Vocational Education. At the time of establishment, it was envisaged that the University would improve equitable access to University Education in the country, since the region did not have a public University. The University opened its doors to the first cohort of students on 3rd October 2007.

Admission Requirements of Engineering Courses

Before proceeding, applicants can read on Busitema University Admission Requirements for 2025/2026 Admission.

  1. Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least two (2) principal passes in prescribed subjects obtained at the same sitting.
  2. Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five (5) passes.  (Candidates who obtained results 7, 9, X, Y and Z at ‘O’ level need not apply)
  3. Vocational Qualifications at level 2 or level 3 of the Uganda Vocational Qualifications Framework.
  4. Qualifications equivalent to Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) as shall be determined by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) in consultation with Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
  5. Students with foreign secondary school qualifications not considered equivalent to UACE; such students shall have passed at least five subjects with a minimum overall grade of C (equivalently a Ugandan grade 5)
  6. Applicants MUST meet additional programme-specific entry requirements

Diploma entry

  1. Diploma holders must have passed with at least a credit.
  2. Applicants MUST meet additional programme-specific entry requirements

  1. Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least ONE (1) principal pass and TWO (2) subsidiaries in principal subjects obtained at the same year of sitting.
  2. Qualifications equivalent to Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) as shall be determined by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) in consultation with Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
  3. Applicants MUST meet additional programme-specific entry requirements
