To assist you in looking into rental possibilities in the neighbourhood, our accommodations office can offer you information and advice.
We are here to help you locate a convenient and comfortable place to live, whether it be through shared houses, private apartments, or other rental alternatives.
Here are some guidelines to consider when renting an off-campus accommodation
Make sure to do extensive research on the community, the property, and the landlord before signing any rental agreements.
To evaluate the property’s state, safety features, closeness to the college, and necessary facilities, it is best to pay a personal visit.
Read the Lease Agreement:
Go over the terms and conditions of the leasing agreement carefully. Pay close attention to any additional costs or rules, as well as rent, utilities, and maintenance obligations.
Request Suggestions:
Consult with other students, faculty, or locals to get advice or information on trustworthy landlords and secure neighbourhoods.
Verify the Safety Procedures:
Make that the building has the necessary safety precautions in place, including working smoke alarms, fire safety devices, and secure locks.
Take into account whether the landlord or property management has made emergency contact information and procedures available.
Think about roommates:
To keep a peaceful living atmosphere if you live with roommates, make sure you communicate clearly and are aware of each other’s expectations.
Safety and Security
Your security and safety are our top priorities, both on and off campus.
Observe these common safety guidelines:
Contacts for Emergencies:
Keep a phone list of crucial phone numbers handy, such as those for emergency services, local law enforcement, and campus security.
Protect Your Living Area:
When you leave your home, even for a little moment, make sure to secure all of your windows and doors. Keep your access codes and keys separate from unauthorised people.
Individual Security:
When you’re by yourself, especially at night, make sure to stay alert and choose well-lit paths. Think about taking a companion or dependable transit when you travel.
Report any concerns about safety:
Report any safety risks or security concerns you find in your flat or the neighbourhood right away to your landlord or the relevant authorities.
