RVIST Agriculture and Mechanical Engineering Department

Agricultural and Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest scientific directions known and studied by a man. The laws of mechanics can explain patterns of most technique functioning and agricultural processes (from ploughing and threshing). They enable the creation of machines, optimize their work, cut down energetic costs of the processes, to reduce friction and wear losses. This course is for the people who want to gain knowledge of the mechanics, agricultural constructions, projecting, production, use and service, technological processes of agricultural production – focusing on; Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering and Extension in Agricultural Education.

RVIST Agriculture Education and Extension Department

The Department of Agriculture Education and Extension (AEE), is one of the youngest but fastest-growing departments in the Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology. The department was established in March 2014 by the chief principal, Mr Eddy Koimet to prepare competent future leaders in agricultural sciences, agribusiness, agricultural resource management and rural development across the country.

RVIST Building and Civil Engineering Department

The department of Building and Civil Engineering offers the opportunity to study a wide range of accredited courses in the areas of Civil Engineering and Building. We pride ourselves on the practical and vocational nature of our courses and their relevance to the demands of the industry. The Department is currently fully equipped with Workshops with modern equipment. The building and civil engineering industry provide employment opportunities for both male and female graduates in the fields of Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Property, Architectural Technology, Quantity Surveying and Forest Management among others.

The field of Electrical and Electronics encompasses many exciting technologies such as microelectronics, computer systems, mobile communications, maintenance and installation of industrial and domestic power installations and appliances which have been among the fastest growing and most challenging technologies that enable the development of the modern information-based society.

RVIST Business Studies Department

The Business Studies Department focuses on all aspects of the business profession, including accounting, economics, banking, entrepreneurship and marketing. The Department provides a framework for building a successful career in the private, public or nonprofit sector.

The department of Health and Applied Sciences brings together experts from Health Professions, Biological, Biomedical & Analytical Sciences, Health and Social Science, and Nursing & Midwifery.

Hospitality and Tourism is a multidisciplinary field of study with the purpose of preparing people with the expertise, commitment, and skills for management, marketing, and operations positions in the expanding industry that provides food, accommodations, and tourism services to people away from home. As a field of study, Hospitality and Tourism is interdisciplinary. It draws upon a wide range of basic disciplines to provide the fundamental knowledge and skills that are required to fulfil the diverse demands placed upon individuals in positions within the hospitality industry.

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department offers students the opportunities to develop knowledge and skills to produce solutions in the Digital Technologies fields that continue to be in high demand on the job market. The ICT Department is staffed by a dynamic and forward-thinking group of lecturers and support staff  It has undergone substantial change in recent years, making the transition from Computer Studies to ICT  at almost every level in order to cater for modern demands.

With an enthusiastic faculty and an intellectually diverse and stimulating curriculum, the Department of Liberal Studies is committed to providing its students with the best educational experience possible. Members in the Liberal Studies Department are outstanding teachers and scholars whose interdisciplinary work spans across fields such as Social and Cultural Studies, communication studies, Life Skills, English, Kiswahili & Ethnic studies among others.
