Details of Tom Mboya University College Joining Instructions 2025-2026
IMMIGRATION
All non-Kenyan citizens MUST be in possession of VALID PASSPORT BEFORE arriving in Kenya. Temporary travel documents are not acceptable to the Immigration Authorities in Kenya.
In addition, all non-citizens must obtain re-entry permits from their Immigration Departments to cover the duration of their study and MUST bring their passports with them when coming to register at the University College.
LOAN AND BURSARY
Kenyan students who wish to apply for the Kenya Government loans should complete the necessary forms. The Higher Education Loans Board forms can be accessed from their website at helb@helb.co.ke.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION
Admission into the University College is subject to receipt of a satisfactory medical report. Students are therefore required to undergo a medical examination by a recognized Government of Kenya medical practitioner before coming to the University. Form TMUC/06 is intended for this purpose and should be downloaded, filled, signed and returned to the University.
TOM MBOYA UNIVERSITY COLLEGE STUDENTS’ MEDICAL SCHEME
Tom Mboya University College operates a medical scheme for all students admitted where each student is expected to pay a non-refundable compulsory medical fee of Kshs. 3,000/= per Academic Year, to enable him/her to benefit from outpatient services at the University Clinic.
IN-PATIENT TREATMENT
The College Clinic offers only Out-Patient services to students. Students who require In-Patient treatment will be referred to the public General Hospital or hospital of their choice and shall settle the bills required for those services.
NB: Students are advised to bring mosquito nets for their use while at Tom Mboya.
DENTAL AND OPTICAL TREATMENT
Any student having eye problem(s) should consult opticians and, where the need is, get spectacles before reporting for studies at the College. Students with dental or eye problems will be directed to the District Hospital for treatment.
SPECIAL MEDICAL CONSENT FORM TMUC/JI/9
Parents or guardians of students are requested to sign the special medical consent form TMUC/JI/9 for emergency operations.
MEALS
Tom Mboya University College runs cafeteria services, which are operated, on a Pay-as- You-Eat basis. Students are therefore expected to pay for their meals. The average cost of the meal is about Kshs.70/=. Therefore a student would require a minimum of Ksh.150/= per day.
Students are advised to carry about Kshs.10, 000/= to cover the cost of meals per semester. There are also many other eating outlets in the neighbourhood charging competitive prices for meals.
ACCOMMODATION
The College has limited self-contained accommodation facilities on Campus mainly for female students and the rooms are allocated on a first come first serve basis at Kshs.5000/= per semester.
BOOKS AND STATIONERY
It is estimated that each student needs Kshs.10, 000/= to cater for books and stationery. The money is meant for students to purchase books and stationery for use during their course. Do not pay this money to the College account.
PERSONAL EXPENSES
You will need money for personal expenses.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
The Games Department will provide a list of activities to all students. Please note that co-curricular activities are essential for total human development and students are encouraged to participate in the games. Students are expected to come with their games kits and other sportswear.
FEE (TUITION) AND OTHER FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS
Please note that NO student will be registered in the University without paying in the full amount of the required fee. All payments should be made to the respective Bank account indicated in the fee structure and letter of admission.
DEFEREMENT OF STUDIES
Those who wish to defer their studies to the Next Academic year for one reason or another, should fill deferment of studies from TMUC/JI/11 and submit it to the Registrar, Academic and Student Affairs at least a month before the opening date.
Unless absolutely necessary the University does not encourage deferment of studies. Take note that deferments are allowed for a maximum of two (2) Academic Years.
