About University of Embu School of Law
The School of Law was licensed to offer legal education on 16th April 2022 pursuant to the provisions of the Legal Education Act, 27 of 2012 (as amended) and the relevant Regulations. The University of Embu Intake.
This came after a rigorous process of accreditation by the Council of Legal Education involving a market survey, drafting of the curriculum, stakeholder’s forum, inspection and approval of School of Law facilities and other resources, recruitment of both academic and non-academic staff. The School received its inaugural cohort of students on 2nd September 2022.

Bachelor of Laws
Goal of the programme
The Bachelor of Laws aims to equip learners with relevant skills and knowledge that meet the individual and professional needs in legal education and related areas to be able to provide legal services in the Country and globally in order to stir and stimulate growth.
Admission requirements
The minimum admission requirements for an undergraduate degree program in law shall be
- a mean grade of C+ (Plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Examination or its equivalent with a minimum grade of B Plain in English or Kiswahili;
- at least three Principal Passes in the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education examination;
- a degree from a recognised university; or
- a Credit Pass in a diploma in law examination from an accredited institution.
Course requirements
- A learner is required to attend at least two-thirds of the total number of lecturers in a unit in order to be allowed to sit for the end of semester examination in a given unit of the programme
- The lecturer shall ensure the programme course(s) are delivered in a manner that learning takes place and in line with the University requirements for teaching, assessment and evaluation of a unit
- To proceed to the second year of study, candidates must pass in each of the fourteen (14) required units offered in the first year.
- To proceed to the third year of study, a candidate must pass in each of the fourteen (14) units offered in the second year including the attachment
- To proceed to the fourth year of study, a candidate must pass in each of the twelve (12) units offered in the third year
- To pass in the final year of study, candidates must pass in each of the twelve (12) required units in fourth year.
