NEW RANK FOR BRIGADIER GENERAL GREY MASHAVA
His Excellency the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces has in terms of Section 15(1)(b) of the Defence Act (Chapter 11:02) promoted Brigadier General Grey Mashava to the substantive rank of Major General with effect from 10 March 2018. The Major General has also been appointed Senior Principal Director in the office of the Honourable Vice President and Minister of Defence with effect from the same date. The investiture ceremony was conducted by the Commander Defence Forces General Philip Valerio Sibanda at his Ministry of Defence offices.
During the investiture ceremony, the Commander Defence Forces acknowledged that Major General Mashava’s promotion came as a result of hard-work, diligence and dedication to his service duties. He went on to encourage the newly promoted Major General to continue working hard since elevation to higher rank comes with greater responsibilities. Expectations are therefore high that he will work even harder to measure up to challenges that often come with greater responsibilities.
Responding to remarks made by the Commander Defence Forces on his promotion, Major General Mashava thanked the Commander for facilitating his promotion by His Excellency, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces. He also promised the Commander Defence Forces to expect nothing short of total commitment to his new responsibilities.
The Commander Zimbabwe National Army, Lieutenant General EA Chimonyo, Commander Air Force of Zimbabwe, Air Marshal E Moyo and Chief of Staff Service Personnel and Logistics, Major General M Chedondo attended the investiture ceremony.
