About Management University of Africa Library

The Management University of Africa award-winning library operates a hybrid system embracing both print and e-resources in tandem with contemporary and emerging global trends. It is a hub of resources in management, governance, entrepreneurship and leadership in the region – a library of the first instance and last resort.

Currently, it holds over 10,500 print volumes and over 40 electronic databases which allow access to a wide array of e-journals and e-books. The library operations are fully automated using Free and Open Source integrated software called KOHA. The circulation module is integrated with an off-campus portal powered by EZproxy software that allows students to access e-content from the comfort of their homes and offices thus making every space Worldwide, MUA library space. Working students on foreign assignments can conveniently access our e-content to write assignments as well as prepare for examinations.

The library is open to the community around and incorporates a children library and an Islamic collection. In addition, the library runs an outreach programme where it donates books to learning institutions from kindergarten all the way to University supporting some of the oldest and established Universities in Kenya including the sponsor.
As a way of benchmarking for continuous improvement and best practices, the library enters into competitions that celebrate excellence, creativity and innovation in library practice so as to continuously improve and learn. In the 2013 Library of the Year Awards (LOYA), the library was celebrated 2nd in the Academic Libraries category.
The library has over 45,000 e-journal titles and over 65,000 e-books whose content can be accessed from home or office provided one is connected to the Internet.

We have made it possible for those off-campus to access our Library facilities through the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) that is accessible via our website. The library also has over 10,500 print volumes comprising of motivational, inspirational and entertainment literature in addition to a children library; Africana and Islamic collections are available as well.

  • Monday – Friday – 8.00 AM – 8.00 PM
  • Saturday – 9.00 AM – 5.00 PM
  • Sunday – 2.00PM – 5.00 PM

Loaning of books; Timelines:

  • Faculty – 6 books for 28 days
  • Undergraduates – 2 books for 14 days
  • Postgraduates – 4 books for 28 days
